Special Educational Needs & Disabilities and Inclusion

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in our school.

As stated within the SEND Code of Practice (2015, p. 92); 'All children and young people are entitled to an appropriate education, one that is appropriate to their needs, promotes high standards and the fulfilment of potential. This should enable them to:

• achieve their best

• become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, and

• make a successful transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training.

At The Federation of Priddy and St Lawrences, we recognise the importance of providing an inclusive education for all children. We have a clear and consistent approach for identifying and responding to the needs of individual children following the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) process. We ensure that the voices of our young people are listened to as part of the decision making process for setting outcomes and planning provision. In addition, we strive to build positive relationships with parents/carers by taking their views into consideration and keeping them informed of the support plan for their child.

Schools are required to have a designated teacher, who is responsible for the coordination of SEND provision across the school.

Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) is Annabel Smout.

To arrange to see Miss Smout or to pass on a message, please do so via the school office.
